Hello! I’m Lemma Salama, LMFT, founder, educator, consultant, and systems-builder for mission-driven organizations.
I founded The Non-Profit Practice to support therapists, practice owners, and founders who want to build nonprofits that are ethical, sustainable, and grounded in real-world clinical and operational experience.
My work lives at the intersection of mental health, business strategy, education, and innovation. I’m the Co-Founder of Desert Rose Trauma Recovery, a California-based nonprofit providing accessible, trauma-informed mental health services, and I’ve spent years helping organizations move from idea to implementation. Designing clinical programs, building infrastructure, training teams, and preparing organizations for long-term sustainability and funding.
In addition to my nonprofit leadership and consulting work, I’m an educator, teaching and mentoring graduate-level counseling students in community-based mental health settings. I specialize in helping emerging clinicians understand how systems, ethics, and culture shape real-world practice.
I also was an AI clinical consultant and co-founder of a digital health platform (Scribesly), where I worked at the intersection of clinical care and technology. In this role, I translated clinical judgment, ethical standards, and documentation best practices into responsible, HIPAA-compliant tools that support clinicians. This lens informs how I help nonprofits think about systems, efficiency, and sustainability without compromising care.
Through The Non-Profit Practice, I support founders in building organizations that are clear in purpose, strong in structure, and aligned with their values. My approach is practical, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that nonprofits should not rely on burnout, chaos, or goodwill alone, they deserve strategy, clarity, and systems that work.
If you’re ready to build a nonprofit that serves your community and supports the people behind it, you’re in the right place.
